Tingbjerg Idrætspark

Self-Irony from all sides

Tingbjerg Idrætspark
24. September 2024
Brønshøj Boldklub v. Boldklubben Frem (0-3)
Oddset-Pokalen 3. Round

When Brønshøj Boldklub played Frem some years back, all the home fans walked backwards into Tingbjerg Idrætspark. This happened out of that simple reason that their opponent Frem translates directly “Forward”.

This was the scene, when previous round cup successors Boldklubben Frem - who knocked out Lyngby Boldklub - were drawn against Brønshøj Boldklub in the 3 round of the Danish Cup Tournament.

Brønshøj is much like Frem - an institution in Danish football. Located North West of central Copenhagen. They have no titles under their belt, but several National Team capped players comes from here - among them Finn Laudrup, Per Røntved and Kent Nielsen.

Tingbjerg Ground - as the locals call their stadium, holds around 3.000 spectators, and today was a sell out. With a decent Frem away section, this evening proved to be a festive one.

The game itself never proved to be a tight contest. Frem - who plays one level above Brønshøj was just too good on the night. But in the pouring rain, both sets of fans had a party. Historically they have been through ups and downs, and at the moment both clubs are on a positive spree, having recently being promoted.

The similarity from the fans, is that they don’t take them selves too serious. All fans want to see their 11 men win, but here it is much more about the community and togetherness.

And their funny singing. Frem supporters regular shout is “We are Sutterne fra Sydhavnen” - translated to “We are the the drunks from Sydhavnen” - the local area south of Copenhagen.

And when Brønshøj play their arch rivals AB (Academic Ball Club) - shouts we made the the opposition left back - “No. 5 - we’ll come home and knock your bookshelves over”.

It is relieving to feel the friendly community, and despite results - all smiles are big.
